Police University Liaison

Durham University enjoys a productive and positive working relationship with Durham Constabulary.

We are active members of Durham Constabulary's City Operational Group, led by the local neighbourhood policing team. We also work with the Community Safety & Engagement Officer on local initiatives around anti-social noise and student safety, and to maintain links with the local community through regular attendance at Durham University & Residents Forum and the Community Engagement Task Force.

Working In Partnership

Durham Constabulary has a number of local neighbourhood policing teams working in the areas where our students live and their teams maintain visibility throughout the academic year. Students can meet the Police at key events including Welcome & Orientation Week, International Orientation Event and Freshers Fair.

Durham Constabulary produce helpful information for students in Durham city and a welcome video can be accessed on our Student Safety page via the Useful Links section below. Durham University and Durham Constabulary have also established a Memorandum of Understanding to guide interactions between the two organisations when there is a need to work together.
