Conference Activities
The types of activities for UKADR 2025 are planned to maximise network opportunities, future scoping discussions, and encourage interactions between research and practice. Participation will be encouraged through:
- Panels/Debates. Interactive panels with emphasis on audience engagement. Auditorium on Days 1 and 2 (1 hr each).
- Breakout and Plenary Discussion. Delegates will be split into small groups (7–10 people, breakout rooms, 1 hr) for focused thematic discussions, followed by plenary sessions (auditorium, 1 hr) to share key insights. Days 1 and 2, afternoons.
- Padlet. Explore attendee profiles and showcase your research on a virtual bulletin board [link coming soon]. This will be publicly available.
We welcome contributions in the form of:
- Nano-Talks. Rapid-fire 3-minute talks (if too many submissions this may be reduced to 2'). Ideal for ECRs, pracademics, or project leads wanting to showcase new ideas or initiatives quickly. These will take place in an auditorium on Day 1 and Day 2 Mornings (1 hour each).
Abstracts (even if short ones) are not required but encouraged.
- Posters + optional 1' oral summary. Standalone engagement sessions encouraging informal discussion and idea exchange. A visual presentation of your research displayed on a large-format board, typically including background, methods, results, and conclusions. These (along with idea walls) will take place during or alongside coffee/tea breaks in a flat breakout room on both days in the morning and afternoon (two dedicated sessions on Day 1 and one on Day 2, (3 x 1 hr))
Abstracts required.
- Idea Walls + optional 1' oral summary. Standalone engagement sessions encouraging informal discussion and idea exchange. A less formal version of a poster—often a single-page or couple of pages of A4 or A3 size graphics, concept sketch, or visual statement of a key idea, challenge, or question—designed to provoke discussion or present an idea. These can be “concept board” rather than a full poster. These will take place during or alongside coffee/tea breaks in a flat breakout room on both days in the morning and afternoon (two dedicated sessions on Day 1 and one on Day 2, (3 x 1 hr))
Abstracts required

An image of a single ensuite room in Collingwood College is above. These rooms are available on a first come first served basis. Some rooms may vary.
Other hotel accommodation is also available in Durham and the surrounding area. If delegates do not yet know which optional ‘extras’ they require, these can also be booked at a later date. See Plan Your Visit for further information.
