Blueprint Startup Challenge is Durham University’s flagship entrepreneurship competition for emerging founders. You’ll have the opportunity to refine your ideas, develop your business model, and accelerate your early‑stage venture — with the chance to win a share of a £50,000 prize fund.

Brought to you by the Hazan Venture Lab, Blueprint is the University’s longest‑running business ideas competition, providing a launchpad for student and graduate entrepreneurs. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to scale, the programme supports you from initial concept through to business launch.

By taking part you’ll have the chance to:

  • Take part in expert‑led workshops designed to strengthen your entrepreneurial skills.
  • Access 1:1 advice and tailored guidance to help shape your venture.
  • Build your network through community events, meet‑ups, and founder socials.
  • Use co‑working space to develop your ideas and collaborate with other entrepreneurs.
  • Join a growing community of founders emerging from Durham University with the skills and mindset to create real‑world impact.

Finalists compete in the Grand Final to win prizes ranging from £1,000 to £10,000 to help launch their startup.

The Blueprint Startup Challenge will return in 2027.
