We offer a range of flexible and challenging courses, which offer students the opportunity to explore the breadth of our discipline as well as to develop expertise in specific areas.

University student
Durham Classics department helped me develop expertise that I use every day in my role as a Classics teacher. The breadth of the course provided me with a detailed knowledge of the classical world which I can impart to my students.

Joint and combined honours degree programmes

We also offer two joint degrees: Ancient History and Archaeology and Ancient, Medieval and Modern History. Students who wish to combine study of the classical world with other subjects (for example: Modern Languages, English, Philosophy) will find opportunities to do so under the Liberal Arts and Combined Honours programmes.
